SWF Seeking Long Walks At Sunset, Loves Movie Nights W/ Popcorn, Snuggles, Prefers No Littles

HARPER (dob 12/12/21) is a hippie ;) She is a shaggy, cream golden doodle who loves to snuggle. She is very good at making one to one connections and she loves going on adventures. She has had basic obedience and she likes to ride in the car. She would do well with an avid runner as her stamina and construction are well-founded. Her frame and structure are genetically sound and she is not a carrier of any of the +200 diseases and conditions that are knows to affect golden retrievers or poodles. She has had over 600 hours in a middle school classroom setting where she provides emotional support and takes treats from students. She provides deep pressure therapy, utilizing her intuition and encouragement from her favorite students. At home, Harper likes to lie on the sofa and sometimes she thinks she is human. She likes peanut butter and popcorn. Harper is not a fan of small children, but prefers environments where there isn’t as much going on. She sits back to take it all in, assess the situation and then decides to act. When a group of kids moves quickly toward her, Harper backs up and hides behind her handler. Harper is being dismissed from the Bella’s Buddies K9U program for this reason. Her message is loud and clear: she prefers to be with an individual who can provide her with a life that is more about her and their partnership. Harper would be great emotional support for a college student, but because of her shyness, we do not recommend her as a potential service dog. It is not the life she wants. When Harper trusts her new handler, she will look to that person for confidence and protection. Harper loves to. be with other dogs, no matter the size. She is a fun dog friend and would like going to parks and on hikes. The best human for Harper will be someone who has an active lifestyle and wants to include a dog in his or her daily life. She would be a great companion for someone who works from home. Harper might be great at therapy work if her person goes with her, but she is not suited for full time facility work. She has a free spirit, she is happy all the time and she rolls with the punches. If she was a person, Harper would be straight outta the 60s and Woodstock would be her jam.

Care and Maintenance: Harper is fully vaccinated and spayed. She has had the Proheart vaccine which is a once a year shot that prevents Heartworms. She is on Nexguard for fleas and ticks. She will need to be professionally groomed every 5-6 weeks. She sheds, but minimally. Her coat is wavy and easy to manage with a slick brush. She likes spa days and pigtails.

TIPPY

Tippy is a golden retriever who loves teenagers. She is a type A personality among dogs and she sometimes thinks she knows best. She is great with dogs that are older and wonderful around children. She has had basic obedience skills and she gently shares her paw for support when she knows her person is needing some love. She loads and unloads the car well and she likes going for walks. She isn’t very interested in meeting strangers and while she adjusts in new situations, she is a little more cautious at first. Tippy has logged hundreds of hours in school and obedience training and will be a great fit for a busy family who doesn’t have time to train a puppy. Tippy is able to stay out of the crate and she likes being a home dog. In a crowd, she finds herself scanning for safe actors. This disqualifies her from being a service dog candidate. Tippy would do well in a home with teenagers as she would wait eagerly for them to come home every afternoon. She is a healthy one year old golden who is housebroken, leash-trained and ready for her family.

BUTTERCUP

NOT AVAILABLE - PLACED IN DALLAS, TEXAS

Buttercup is a golden retriever girl who was born 5/29/2022. As a puppy, Buttercup was attentive and very motivated to learn. She loved treats but would follow without expecting anything in return. If there was a toy or item she wanted, she was persistent in obtaining it. Buttercup spent her first summer (2022) gaining confidence in public settings such as stores and community activities. During last school year, she spent time in public schools from grades PK-5 training in a therapy dog role. Buttercup has a good amount of energy and would excel as a service dog candidate because her brain is usually looking for problems to solve, but she will need help from a professional trainer to finish her out. She loves to ride in the car and is well-behaved in the house. She gets along very well with other dogs and children. Her suitable placement will be in an active home that might allow her access to water.
